Starting an Exam¶
Step 1: Get the Access Code¶
Your teacher will provide an 8-character alphanumeric code (e.g., AB12CD34).
Step 2: Go to the Exam Entry Page¶
- Open your regular web browser
- Go to the exam entry URL for your institution:
https://<domain>/<institute>/exam-entry/
Your teacher will provide the full URL.
Step 3: Enter the Access Code¶
- Type the 8-character code in uppercase
- Click Submit
If you enter the wrong code multiple times, you may be asked to solve a simple math challenge.
Step 4: Authenticate¶
For built-in EMS exams: 1. You will be redirected to your institution's SSO login page 2. Log in with your institutional credentials 3. You will be redirected back to the exam entry page
Step 5: Download and Open SEB¶
- After successful authentication, a SEB configuration file (.seb) will be downloaded
- Open the .seb file — Safe Exam Browser will launch automatically
- SEB loads the exam in a secure, locked-down browser environment
Step 6: Start the Exam¶
- The exam interface loads automatically in SEB
- If the exam has Strict Time enabled, you can only access it during the scheduled window
- Your session starts when you first view a question
Troubleshooting¶
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| SEB doesn't open | Install Safe Exam Browser from safeexambrowser.org |
| Access code not accepted | Check the code is exactly 8 uppercase characters |
| Login failed | Use your institutional credentials, not personal accounts |
| Exam not available | The exam may not have started yet — check the schedule |
| Wrong institution | Ensure the URL contains your institution's slug |
