SEB Configurations¶
SEB Configuration templates define how Safe Exam Browser behaves during an exam. Each configuration is linked to an institute.
Configuration Sections¶
When creating or editing a SEB configuration, settings are organized into groups:
Security & Passwords¶
- Send Browser Exam Key: Include BEK and CK in HTTP headers for server-side verification
- Allow Quit: Whether students can quit SEB
- Quit Password: Password required to quit
Browser Window¶
- Browser View Mode: Window, Full Screen, or Touch Optimized
- Toolbar: Show/hide toolbar elements (address bar, reload, time, etc.)
- Window Dimensions: Width, height, positioning
Browser Features¶
- Navigation (back/forward), find, print, developer console
- JavaScript, Java, plug-ins, pop-ups
- Screen sharing, video/audio capture
- Virtual machine detection
URL Filtering¶
- Enable URL Filter: When disabled, SEB blocks ALL URLs
- Whitelist/blacklist rules (regex supported)
- Auto-generated rules for exam URLs and resources
Process Monitoring¶
- Permitted Processes: Applications allowed during the exam
- Prohibited Processes: Applications blocked during the exam
Downloads & Uploads¶
- Allow/block downloads and uploads
- Configure download directories
Keyboard & System¶
- Exit key configuration (F1–F12)
- Inside-SEB controls (task manager, shut down, lock, etc.)
- Kiosk mode options
